Good drying time is a prime consideration for inkjet inks and media. An inkjet print which does not dry in a reasonable time period has limited usefulness. 简介: 5.1x00a0;Drying behavior is related to the mass transport properties of concrete, such as liquid permeability and water diffusivity. It depends on a number of factors such as concrete mixture proportions, presence of admixtures and supplementary cementitious materials, composition and physical characteristics of the aggregates and cementitious materials, curing conditions, degree of hydration, and presence of microcracking. Drying behavior is also affected strongly by the degree of saturation and temperature of the concrete at the start of drying as well as the environmental conditions that exist during drying such as temperature, relative humidity, and air flow rate (wind speed). 5.2x00a0;This test method subjects initially saturated specimens of concrete to one-dimensional drying under controlled environmental conditions. The resulting mass loss versus time data can be used to estimate transport coefficients including liquid permeability3 and water diffusivity.4 These coefficients may be used in numerical models to estimate service life of concrete and reinforced concrete members exposed to different environmental conditions.5,6 5.3x00a0;The test method provides instruction and a sequence of steps for measuring mass loss versus time. The preferred rate of this mass loss will depend on the application. For example, for interior commercial flooring applications, a mass loss that occurs quickly may be preferable, while for outdoor exposures in an aggressive environment, slower mass loss may be beneficial. 1.1x00a0;This test method determines the mass loss over time due to one-dimensional drying and moisture transport in an initially saturated cylindrical specimen with both ends exposed to constant temperature and relative humidity. 1.2x00a0;The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. 简介:Inadequate setting or drying of sheetfed inks, or both, can cause blocking of stacked prints with subsequent loss of product. x201C;Settingx201D; of an ink refers to the rapid rise in viscosity of the printed ink film, sometimes accompanied by surface drying, that prevents transference of the undried ink film to adjacent surfaces under light pressure. x201C;Settingx201D; is a property of the ink-substrate combination. Inadequate drying may be due to several factors, but the primary causes are: (1) omission of metallic driers from the ink, improper ink formulation (2) unusual ink-substrate interactions, and (3) use of a fountain solution that is too acidic. If the test prints are made on a standard laboratory proof press, where there is no application of fountain solution, then only the first three possible causes can be evaluated. If the prints have been made on a commercial production printing press or some other acceptable means of introducing the fountain solution into the ink agreed upon, then the effect of fountain solution can be determined. It will often be necessary to run several tests to isolate the specific cause of a drying problem. This test method is suitable for most combinations of oxidative drying inks and substrates. Because this test method relies on a visual assessment of the extent of drying, very light colors and clear varnishes may present difficulties in quantifying the extent of drying.
